Your Concerns Explained

From acne and rosacea to pigmentation and signs of ageing, skin concerns can affect your confidence and wellbeing. At Hart Skin & Wellness Centre, we offer personalised care to help you manage and improve your skin. Explore the concerns below to learn more about their causes and available treatments.

wrinkles around blue eye.jpg

WRINKLE AROUND THE EYES

The delicate skin around the eyes is often one of the first areas to show fine lines and wrinkles. Repeated facial expressions, collagen loss, sun exposure and dehydration can all make these lines appear more noticeable over time.

creped skin.jpg

CREPEY
SKIN

Crepey skin appears thin, finely wrinkled and less firm, often affecting the face, neck, arms or décolletage. It commonly develops as collagen, elastin and moisture levels decline through ageing, hormonal changes and cumulative sun exposure.

SUN
DAMAGE

Repeated exposure to ultraviolet light can cause uneven pigmentation, rough texture, redness, fine lines and a loss of elasticity. Sun damage develops gradually and may become more noticeable over time, particularly across frequently exposed areas such as the face, neck and hands.

weak chin.jpg

WEAK
CHIN

A weak or recessed chin can affect the balance of the facial profile and make the jawline appear less defined. It may be a natural feature or become more noticeable as facial volume and skin firmness change with age.

rosacea.jpg

ROSACEA

Rosacea is a long-term inflammatory skin condition that commonly causes persistent facial redness, flushing, visible blood vessels or acne-like bumps. Symptoms can vary between individuals and may be triggered by heat, sunlight, alcohol, spicy food, stress or certain skincare products.

tech neck.jpg

TECH NECK / TURKEY NECK

Lines, looseness and sagging around the neck can develop through ageing, collagen loss, sun exposure and repeated downward movement. These changes may create horizontal “tech neck” lines or the softer, less defined appearance often described as a turkey neck.

visible PORES .jpg

DILATED OR
LARGE PORES

Pores can appear enlarged when they become congested or when surrounding skin loses firmness. Oil production, genetics, sun damage, ageing and changes in collagen can all affect their visibility, particularly around the nose, cheeks, forehead and chin.

very gummy smile gingival .jpg

GUMMY SMILE / EXCESSIVE GINGIVAL DISPLAY

A gummy smile occurs when more gum tissue than expected is visible while smiling. This can relate to lip movement, tooth proportions, gum position or jaw structure and may affect how balanced someone feels their smile appears.

drooping nose tip.jpg

DROOPING
NOSE TIP

A drooping nasal tip may be present naturally or become more noticeable through ageing and changes in facial structure. The tip can also move downwards when smiling, affecting the appearance and overall balance of the nose and facial profile.

uneven nasal bridge.jpg

UNEVEN NASAL
BRIDGE

An uneven nasal bridge can create bumps, hollows or asymmetry along the profile of the nose. These differences may be naturally occurring, inherited or associated with previous injury and can influence how straight or balanced the nose appears.

sensitive skin male.jpg

SENSITIVE
SKIN

Sensitive skin can feel tight, uncomfortable, itchy or easily irritated by products, weather changes and environmental factors. It may also become red or reactive more quickly, making a gentle, carefully selected approach to skincare and treatment particularly important.

reddened skin.jpg

REDNESS

Facial redness may appear temporarily or remain visible for longer periods. It can be associated with sensitivity, irritation, rosacea, inflammation, visible blood vessels or environmental triggers, so understanding the underlying cause is important before recommending an appropriate treatment plan.

menopause .jpg

MENOPAUSE AND
PERIMENOPAUSE

Hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause can affect hydration, collagen, elasticity and oil production. Skin may become drier, thinner, more sensitive or prone to breakouts, redness and pigmentation, while changes in facial firmness can become more noticeable.

jowels.jpg

JOWLS

Jowls develop when skin and soft tissue around the lower face begin to descend, reducing the definition of the jawline. Collagen loss, changing facial volume, genetics and the natural ageing process can all contribute to their appearance.

smoker lines.jpg

SMOKERS LINES / LIPSTICK LINES

Smokers’ lines are the fine vertical lines that form around the mouth. Despite the name, they can affect anyone and are influenced by repeated lip movement, collagen loss, sun exposure, genetics and the natural ageing process.

very thin lips .jpg

THIN LIPS

Lips may be naturally fine or gradually lose volume, definition and shape as collagen levels change with age. This can make the upper lip appear flatter, soften the Cupid’s bow or create less balance between the lips and surrounding features.

gaunt female face .jpg

GAUNT FACE

A gaunt face can develop when volume is lost from the cheeks, temples or mid-face, creating a more hollow or tired appearance. Ageing, genetics, illness and changes in body weight can all contribute to reduced facial fullness.

ozempic face.jpg

OZEMPIC FACE

“Ozempic face” is an informal term describing facial volume loss that may become noticeable following significant or rapid weight loss. It is not unique to one medication and can create hollowing, looser skin or more visible lines around the face.

collagen.jpg

LOSING
COLLAGEN

Collagen provides structure, strength and support within the skin. Natural production gradually declines with age and may be affected by hormonal changes, sun exposure, smoking and lifestyle factors, contributing to fine lines, reduced firmness and changes in skin texture.

ageing.jpg

AGEING
SKIN

As skin ages, it naturally produces less collagen, elastin and moisture. This may lead to fine lines, wrinkles, dryness, pigmentation, uneven texture and reduced firmness, although the pattern and pace of these changes are different for every person.

acne.jpg

ACNE

Acne develops when pores become blocked by oil and dead skin cells, leading to blackheads, whiteheads or inflamed spots. Hormones, genetics, stress, skincare and certain medications may all contribute, with symptoms ranging from mild congestion to persistent breakouts.

DULL
SKIN

Dull skin can appear tired, flat or lacking in radiance. Dehydration, dead skin cell build-up, uneven texture, poor circulation, sun exposure and lifestyle factors can all reduce brightness and prevent the skin from reflecting light evenly.

freckly woman.jpg

UNWANTED
FRECKLES

Freckles are small areas of increased pigmentation that commonly become darker following sun exposure. While most are harmless, clusters of freckles or uneven pigmentation may affect skin clarity. Any new, changing or unusual mark should always be professionally assessed.

UNWANTED
HAIR

Unwanted facial or body hair may be influenced by genetics, hormones, age or certain health conditions and medications. Hair can vary considerably in colour, thickness and growth pattern, so an individual assessment helps determine the most appropriate approach.

closeup of frown lines.jpg

FROWN
LINES

Frown lines are the vertical creases that develop between the eyebrows through repeated facial movement. Over time, reduced collagen and elasticity can cause them to remain visible even when the face is relaxed, sometimes creating a tired or stern appearance.

closeup of small acne scarage.jpg

ACNE
SCARRING

Acne scarring can leave depressions, raised areas or uneven texture after inflamed breakouts have healed. Scars vary in type and depth and are different from the temporary red or brown marks that can remain following an active acne lesion.

cellulite.jpg

CELLULITE

Cellulite is a common and harmless concern that creates a dimpled or uneven skin texture, most often around the thighs, buttocks or abdomen. Its appearance is influenced by connective tissue, fat distribution, genetics, hormones and skin elasticity.

stretch marks.jpg

STRETCH
MARKS

Stretch marks are lines that develop when the skin changes shape more quickly than its supporting tissue can adapt. They commonly occur following pregnancy, growth, weight change or muscle development and may gradually fade from red or purple to pale silver.
