Lip Fillers in Dunfermline

Hyaluronic Acid Injectable Treatment

Natural volume and refined definition, with treatment tailored to your facial proportions, existing lip shape and individual aesthetic goals.

What Are Lip Fillers?

Lip fillers are injectable treatments used to add shape, volume and structure, restore definition, smooth fine lines or help improve asymmetry.

The most commonly used lip fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally within the body. In filler form, hyaluronic acid is purified and stabilised into a soft, flexible gel that integrates with the lip tissue.

At Hart Skin & Wellness Centre, the approach is subtle and individualised. Treatment is intended to enhance your natural lip shape rather than impose a standard shape or create an overfilled appearance.

Whether you want a slight increase in volume, improved definition, greater symmetry or a smoother finish, treatment is planned around your facial proportions and preferences.

Subtle, Natural Volume
Improved Lip Definition
Smoother Fine Lines
Improved Symmetry

Enhances fullness without creating an overfilled appearance. Soft, flexible fillers help the lips remain naturally plump and balanced.

Refines the lip border, enhances the Cupid’s bow and restores shape that may have softened over time.

Softens vertical lip lines and improves texture, helping the lips appear smoother and allowing makeup to sit more evenly.

Lip filler can be used to balance unevenness and create a more harmonious appearance while respecting your natural lip shape.

How Do Lip Fillers Work?

Hydration and Structure

Hyaluronic acid binds water and supports hydration. In the lips, carefully placed filler can improve softness, smoothness and natural plumpness.

High-quality fillers integrate with the natural lip tissue and move with your expressions, helping the lips remain soft and flexible.

Filler can support lip architecture by enhancing the Cupid’s bow, defining the vermilion border and supporting the philtral columns.

Because hyaluronic acid is biocompatible, reactions are uncommon. The product gradually breaks down over time and can be dissolved using hyaluronidase if clinically necessary.

Treatment Information

Your Lip Filler Appointment

Your appointment begins with a consultation and assessment of your medical history, facial proportions, lip shape and treatment goals.

Your practitioner will discuss whether the objective is subtle volume, definition, symmetry correction, restoration of age-related volume loss or the smoothing of fine lines.

The lips are cleansed and numbed before the filler is administered using fine needles, a cannula or a combination of techniques.

Treatment time: Approximately 30 to 60 minutes.

Anaesthetic: Numbing cream or a dental block may be used.

Downtime: Usually minimal. Mild swelling, tenderness or bruising can last for several days.

Results: Visible immediately, with the settled result best assessed at approximately two weeks.

Longevity: The DNU pages provide a range of approximately 6 to 18 months depending on the product, area treated, metabolism and individual response.

A review can be arranged to assess how the lips have settled.

Common Questions

Who May Be Suitable for Lip Filler?

Lip filler may suit people who want natural and subtle enhancement rather than a significant change in appearance.

It may be considered if you want to improve symmetry, restore volume that has reduced with age, create a more defined lip border, enhance the Cupid’s bow or improve hydration and smoothness.

Treatment should always complement your individual features. There is no single ideal lip shape or correct amount of volume.

Your suitability depends on your medical history, current lip tissue, previous filler, facial proportions and desired result.

What Possible Side Effects Are There?

Common short-term effects include redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising and temporary lumps or unevenness while swelling settles. These usually improve over several days.

Less common but important risks include infection, allergic reaction, filler migration and vascular occlusion, where a blood vessel becomes blocked. Vascular occlusion can affect the skin and, very rarely, vision.

Hart’s clinicians are trained to recognise and manage complications. Hyaluronidase can be used to dissolve hyaluronic acid filler where clinically required.

Contact the clinic urgently if you experience severe pain that does not improve, mottled, dusky or unusually pale skin near the treated area, or sudden changes to your vision.

What Aftercare Is Recommended?

Swelling may be more noticeable the morning after treatment. You may also experience tenderness, a full sensation or small bruises around the injection points.

During the first 24 to 48 hours, avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, alcohol and active skincare containing acids or retinoids around the treated area.

Keep the lips clean and avoid pressing or massaging them unless your practitioner has specifically advised you to do so.

Follow all aftercare guidance provided by the clinic and contact the team if you experience anything unexpected.

Why Choose Hart Skin & Wellness Centre?

Lip filler treatment is carried out by medically trained clinicians with detailed knowledge of facial and lip anatomy.

Treatment is planned around the lips and surrounding facial structures rather than treating the lips in isolation. Where relevant, the chin or perioral area may also be considered when assessing overall facial balance.

The objective is to create soft, natural and age-appropriate results. If filler is not suitable, or you have already reached an appropriate result, you will receive honest advice rather than encouragement to have unnecessary treatment.

How long does lip filler last?

Results typically last between 6 and 12 months, although the DNU information provides an overall possible range of 6 to 18 months depending on metabolism, lifestyle, treatment area and product.

What will my lips look like immediately afterwards?

The lips may appear fuller because of temporary swelling. The result softens as the swelling settles and is normally best assessed at approximately two weeks.

Can lip filler improve asymmetry?

Yes. Filler can be placed strategically to improve balance and symmetry, although perfectly identical lips cannot be guaranteed.

Can lip filler be dissolved?

Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved using hyaluronidase where clinically appropriate.

Will my lips look overfilled?

Treatment is planned around your natural lip shape, facial proportions and desired result. The approach at Hart is intended to remain subtle, soft and balanced.
