What Is Microneedling?
Smoother Skin Texture
Stimulates collagen to refine uneven texture, soften roughness and create a smoother, more polished surface.
Microneedling creates tiny, controlled microchannels within the skin. These microchannels trigger a natural healing response, encouraging the production of fresh collagen and elastin.
Collagen and elastin provide support, firmness and elasticity within the skin. Encouraging their production can help improve uneven texture, soften roughness and create a smoother, more refined surface.
The controlled healing response can also help remodel indented acne scars, reduce the appearance of enlarged pores and soften fine lines around areas such as the eyes, mouth and forehead.
Microneedling does not add volume or alter the shape of the face. Its purpose is to improve the quality, structure and appearance of the skin itself.
Improves Acne Scarring
Controlled wound healing helps remodel indented acne scars, making them appear shallower and more blended.
Fine Lines and Early Ageing
Fresh collagen and elastin can soften fine lines and improve firmness without adding volume or changing facial shape.
Pores, Tone and Radiance
Firmer, better-supported skin can make enlarged pores appear tighter while increased cell turnover helps improve dull or uneven-looking skin.
What Can Microneedling Improve?
Treatment Benefits
Microneedling can support several aspects of skin quality rather than focusing on only one concern.
It can refine uneven or rough texture and create a smoother-looking surface. For patients with indented acne scars, the controlled healing response can encourage collagen remodelling and help scars appear shallower and more blended with the surrounding skin.
Fresh collagen and elastin can soften fine lines and early wrinkles, particularly around the eyes, mouth and forehead. As the skin becomes firmer and more supported, enlarged pores may also appear less visible.
Microneedling increases cell turnover, which can help fade the appearance of post-inflammatory marks and restore a brighter, healthier-looking glow.
The microchannels created during treatment may also allow selected serums and active ingredients to penetrate more effectively.

Dull Skin
Microneedling can be used to refresh skin that appears tired or dull by encouraging the skin’s natural renewal response.

Fine Lines
By stimulating collagen production, microneedling may help soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face.

Acne Scarring
Microneedling may help improve the appearance and texture of scarring left behind by acne.

Chickenpox Scarring
Scarring caused by chickenpox may also be considered for microneedling treatment following an individual skin assessment.

Uneven Texture
The skin’s healing response following microneedling can help improve areas where the surface texture appears uneven.

Pigmentation
Microneedling may help improve the appearance of darker patches associated with pigmentation, including changes linked to sun exposure.

Is It Right for You?
Who Is Microneedling Suitable For?
Microneedling may be considered if you have rough or uneven texture, old acne marks, indented acne scarring, fine lines, early wrinkles, enlarged pores, dullness or uneven-looking skin.
It may also suit people who want to improve their general skin quality and radiance without changing the natural shape or proportions of their face.
Your skin must be assessed before treatment. Suitability will depend on your skin condition, medical history, current skincare, previous treatments and the concern being addressed.
If another treatment is more appropriate or your skin needs to be prepared before microneedling, this should be explained during consultation.

Common Questions
What Happens During Microneedling?
Your appointment begins with an assessment of your skin and the areas you would like to improve. Your practitioner will discuss your concerns, previous treatments, current skincare and any factors that could affect suitability.
Numbing cream is used to improve comfort. Once the skin has been prepared, the microneedling device is passed over the selected area to create controlled microchannels.
Treatment usually takes around 30 minutes, although the full appointment may be longer when consultation, preparation and aftercare are included.
The skin may look red and feel warm or tight afterwards. This is an expected part of the controlled healing response.
What Do Results, Downtime & Aftercare Look Like?
Treatment time: Around 30 minutes.
Anaesthetic: Numbing cream.
Downtime: Mild redness, warmth or tightness can remain for approximately 24 to 48 hours. Light flaking may occur as the skin renews.
Results: The skin may begin to look brighter and fresher from approximately one to two weeks after treatment. Collagen improvement continues gradually, with fuller changes developing over approximately six to twelve weeks.
Longevity: Results typically last six to twelve months, depending on skin quality, the concern treated and ongoing maintenance.
The number of appointments required varies. Your practitioner will recommend an appropriate course or maintenance plan following assessment.
Aftercare is important because the skin will be temporarily more vulnerable. Follow the skincare and sun-protection guidance provided by the clinic and avoid introducing unapproved active products until advised.
Why Choose Hart Skin & Wellness Centre?
Microneedling should be adapted to the condition, thickness and needs of your skin. At Hart Skin & Wellness Centre, your treatment begins with an assessment rather than a standard device setting or generic package.
Your practitioner will consider your skin concerns, previous treatments, current products and the level of improvement you hope to achieve.
You will receive realistic guidance about what microneedling may improve, whether a course is likely to be recommended and whether another treatment would be better suited to your concern.
Is microneedling painful?
Numbing cream is used before treatment to improve comfort. Sensation varies according to the area treated and individual sensitivity.
How long will my skin remain red?
Mild redness, warmth or tightness commonly lasts around 24 to 48 hours. Light flaking may occur as the skin renews.
When will I see results?
Brighter, fresher-looking skin may become noticeable from one to two weeks. Collagen remodelling continues gradually, with fuller improvements developing over approximately six to twelve weeks.
Can microneedling improve acne scars?
Microneedling can help remodel indented acne scars by stimulating controlled wound healing and fresh collagen production. Suitability depends on the type and condition of the scarring.
Will microneedling change my facial shape?
No. Microneedling is intended to improve skin quality, texture and firmness. It does not add volume or alter facial proportions.
How many treatments will I need?
This varies according to your skin, the concern being treated and the result you hope to achieve. Your practitioner will recommend an appropriate course following assessment.
